We have the pleasure to meet Fran Diaz, Azure Technical Lead with more than 15 years of experience in the sector. In this section of interviews we would like to help you get to know the people who make up the human and professional team at Bosonit.
Who is Fran?
Fran started in this profession almost by chance. I started with an intermediate photography module and continued my training with FPO courses that dealt with digital imaging. That was my foray into PCs, until then I had seen very little of them at school.
When I realised that I liked digital I started to look beyond photoshop and making web pages. I registered with the Andalusian employment service to join a computer training centre. After 6 months of training in development with .net technology (back in 2003, we were just starting out), we went on to do an internship for 6 months. The client liked the application we started so much that they left us for 9 more months to generate an application for job seekers and companies for Huelva Impulsa.
In the meantime, I had already taken an entrance exam for the higher vocational training course in computer application development. As was normal in those days, before finishing the first year I started working in a company and from there I continued my career until today (very short 😀 ).
I like community and sharing knowledge, so I have been blogging, forum blogging, training and giving events over the years. I have participated and created technical communities to promote this very thing. A phrase that I knew from a good person and that I carry by flag is:
Knowledge is a good, which grows as it is shared.
Over the years I have specialised in Business Intelligence and MicrosoftI've done everything from setting up a SQL Server to a high-availability infrastructure. In the last few years and with the arrival of the cloud, I have been adapting to change. It's a dizzying pace and it's amazing to be able to be there to see it.
Why did you choose Bosonit for your career?
Bosonit has offered me the chance to work in an area that I love, Azure and the cloud. I come not only for a project, but to help grow the data area and more specifically in Azure.
This presents a great challenge that caught my attention at the time of the interview and here we are, eager to do our bit.
What do you think you can bring to the company?
My experience with BI, Azure or visualisation. Helping those who come from below to grow and those who are already there to do projects as a group, united and making community. Knowing that we will always have someone to lean on. And of course to continue learning from everyone. This aspect, from my point of view, is essential to offer our clients a good experience that helps to generate (or maintain) trust in us.
Which of your professional qualities would you highlight?
Proactive, I don't stop, I love to help in anything, that sometimes gets me into gardens that are not mine, but everything contributes.
What do you like most about your work?
The frenetic pace of technology is brutal, so it is an incentive not to stand still, something I don't like.
And the least?
The pace of technology, sometimes when you stop for a while and come back it seems that you still have more to see. Nothing that can be solved with patience.
You have told us that you have participated in and even created technology communities, what do you like most about them, and would you recommend others to participate in these communities?
What I like most about communities is the exchange of knowledge and the feeling of seeing new topics from a different perspective than your own. We are social beings, we are born with it in our genes, and participating in a community is one of the most gratifying things I have ever experienced. That feeling of helping or simply learning is very pleasant and highly recommended.
Yes, I would encourage anyone to participate, as a listener or speaker. In Spain there are many communities in terms of MSFT technology (and I'm sure other technologies), one of the ones I like the most is the one focused on Power Platform, as one of my favourite tools is Power BI.
Finally, what do you like to do in your free time?
Spending time with family and friends is my current hobby, and one that I wouldn't trade for anything. I love photography and travelling. When you are far away or have been to several cities, you realise that you don't have to go far to see extraordinary things, so for now I'm getting to know Malaga, which is very beautiful.
